Round two. Thanks for having me back, Schlecht family! Nearly a year and a half ago we got together over a Surprise visit for a special 40th wedding anniversary. Now, back in from Portland, Leo brought his baby brother to visit Grandma and Grandpa’s farm. And – a girl cousin has joined the crew to welcome them all back. I’m so honored to watch this childhood friend’s family growing. Stephanie mentioned she’s enjoyed watching my photography grow the last few years, and we chatted briefly about how amazing it can be that a smidge of risk taking and a little courage may stir up good karma and open new paths. Or maybe those paths have been there all the long, and we’re just finding our way back to them.
A squeezed-in session between school drop-offs and meetings, we got the standard shots in the books, and had just a few minutes to venture around the farm . . . and I think THAT’s where it’s all at. My true love in family photography is the documentary side of things . . . keep on scrolling. Less posed and practiced grins. More LIFE. Mr. Leo worked up the courage to feed the horse. Not without a bit of a stare down first, but I have a hunch there will now be several more feedings during his stay. New found adventure.
Planting the seed, and hoping the next session with these guys is LIFE in and around the Farm. The real stuff makes our hearts sing and memories flood.
